Where is La Viñuela located

Viñuela is located 49km from Malaga capital with a population of 1.622 inhabitants. The municipal term has a dimension of almost 27,2km square.

Origin of the name Viñuela

In the 16th century there was a small inn in the area on the Vélez to Granada road, at the intersection of the Vereda de Granada and Antequera. This inn was built so that travelers could rest and give them lodging. Around the inn was a plot full of vines. It began to be known as “Venta La Viña” which later became “La Viñuela” to give the town its name.

The inhabitants are called “viñolero or viñolera“.
