Salares is located 61km from Malaga capital with a population of 169 inhabitants. The municipal term has a dimension of almost 10km square.

Monuments and places of interest in Salares
- Minaret Tower of Salares: Part of the old mosque, the minaret tower shows in a very remarkable way the Arab presence in the Axarquia area. Built of red brick between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries highlighting the Almohad art.
- Casa Torreón: Located next to the Church of Santa Ana. A house in perfect condition that represents Andalusian architecture during the last period of Muslim domination in the province of Malaga. It was part of the defensive complex and the mosque.
- Church of Santa Ana: The temple is the most prominent building in the village. Built and transformed as a church in the 16th century, as can be seen from its bell tower, it was previously a minaret for the mosque.
